About Christine

My name is Christine. I am wife to the wittiest, most handsome man I know, and mama to a spirited elementary school boy and sassy preschool girl. I am an optometrist by day, and an aspiring recipe developer and food photographer by bedtime.

Website Goals

I love food. I love to eat it, and I love how it brings people together. My goal with this website is to provide you with recipes that you can trust. Obviously we all have different tastes, but I promise you that the only recipes posted are ones that I am proud to serve to my family and friends.

My hope is that you also experiment and have fun in the kitchen! I want you to adjust and tweak each recipe to make them perfect for you and your family! I read a cookbook by a famous chef who said she wanted to call her recipes ‘inspirations’ instead of recipes as she wanted each person to make them their own. I love that idea. Create, change, and have fun!

With that said, if you have feedback on a recipe, have a question, run into a problem, please contact me!

Buttery, flaky crust filled with soft, deliciously spiced apples and a crispy, sugary top. This Homemade Apple Pie will be your new favorite!

Food Philosophy

I like good food. I want to be full after a meal and I also don’t want to feel like I’m destroying my body. So, my meals are typically on the healthier side, but I do not stick to any one diet or philosophy….. My desserts though, that’s a different story …. if I’m going to eat dessert, I want it done right. Those are rarely, if ever, on the healthy side.

Background

I grew up in North and South Carolina (Clemson girl!), went to graduate school in Boston, and then moved to Maryland. Therefore my food tends to be a combination of southern comfort with some city spice.

Chicken tenders marinated in a yogurt, garam masala sauce, grilled on a stove top or gas grill, and topped with an addictively creamy cilantro sauce. These Chicken Tikka Masala Tenders are packed with flavor.

History

I have no formal training in baking or cooking. My culinary education has come from blogs, you tube videos, cookbooks, and a DVD course my mom bought me.

I once had to have stitches on my finger after leveling a cake with a serrated knife. I am since a strong proponent of commercial cake levelers.

I firmly believe that there are few ailments in life which cannot be eased with a little dessert.
