Snacks

You know how you have things that are normal for your family but you’re not really sure if they’re normal for everyone? For my family, snacks are incredibly serious business.

When my kids were in daycare, they had morning and afternoon snacks. It seemed like a pretty good idea, so we’ve all kept it up. And we’ve maybe thrown a couple additional snack breaks in there too…..

During the week, snacks consist of things that can be thrown into a lunchbox. But on weekends, we like to step up our snack game.

Weekend Afternoons

During football season, my husband often makes loaded nachos for a game-time snack. My children, who are 4 and 6 years old, and I, could take or leave football. But, if my husband has loaded nachos in front of the game, we’re instantly interested in football.

Recently, I found McCain Quick Cook Waffle Cut Fries at the grocery store. I saw that these fries cook in half the time* compared with McCain’s traditional fries. Clearly, that means they would be perfect for a quick but delicious take on loaded nacho fries.

Loaded Waffle Fries

Quick Cook Fries

McCain has three varieties of quick cook fries: waffle cut, crinkle cut, and straight cut. All three are made with real potatoes. And, all three are really quick and easy to make. In fact, while they’re baking, there is no flipping required.

For this recipe, I used the waffle cut fries, but any of their varieties will work and taste great. All McCain potatoes are made with no artificial flavors. That means natural potato goodness you’ll be proud to serve.

I found all three varieties in the freezer section of my local grocery store, Safeway. If you’re looking for a store to purchase McCain fries near you, click here.
